What Is Jute?

A natural vegetable fibre, which is highly desirable for its hard wearing nature, adaptability and because fabrics made of jute fibres are carbon neutral and biodegradable, produced with a low carbon footprint. Jute is also known as flax.

Where Does Jute Come From?

Traditionally grown in the eastern part of India since ancient times, where soil quality and weather conditions along the East Coast are ideal, most of the world's jute is cultivated in the Ganges Delta, across both India and Bangladesh, with India being the world's largest producer.

Why Do We Love Jute So Much?

This wonderful fibre is both sustainable and environmentally friendly. It is a renewable resource, which can be grown without the need for fertilisers and pesticides, making it a more sustainable alternative to more modern synthetic fabrics.

Having accessories made of a guilt free, natural resource sits well with our brand values and brings a lot of pleasure to our fashion conscious, environmentally responsible customers.

Made Close To The Source

Of India's (approximately) 70 jute mills, about 60 of these are located in West Bengal, which is where our beautiful bags are produced, so when I say "Our bags are produced close to the source, this is what I am referring to". Due to ongoing personal relationships with our makers, I stand behind the quality and ethics of our products with confidence.

Whilst visiting India, I have met and worked with the people who make the products we sell. They are family owned businesses, which adhere to the strict Labour laws in India, governing rights and conditions. These are the people who bring our ideas to life!

Due to ongoing personal relationships with our makers, I stand behind the quality and ethics of our products with confidence.
